Some people may think self care or nurturing is
just for the fragile - the victims or wimps. Actually, positive self-care is a vital part of maintaining good health
and a vibrant life. Building up a repertoire of reliable self-care habits can affect your quality of life today and in the
future.
Self-care is any behavior
that helps you to feel refreshed and re-energized. It replenishes your personal motivation and helps you grow as a person.
It's the emotional and physical equivalent of filling your car with gas – if you don’t practice it consistently,
you’ll run out of energy.

Remember all of that stuff? It's those behaviors that your mom encouraged you to
do when you were a kid. For whatever reasons, it's harder to practice good self-care as adults. We seem to
really more heavily on destructive behaviors to soothe us - like smoking or drinking. We push ourselves to the limit
by denying our physical and emotional needs. And then we wonder why we feel so tired and stressed out all of the time.
